  3. I played trumpet and led the jazz band 1970-71 in Okinawa. Thanks to the army band program I got to see another part of the world. The band was an important part of public relations between the U.S military stationed on Okinawa and the locals ryukuans. Kobe beef hibachi for $3.25, gas for 22 cents a gallon, P.X. movies and haircuts for 25 cents, beer 15 cents at the NCO Club, anything free one night a week thanks to the slot machines at the NCO Club, those were the days.
